This is now officially my favorite book in the Twisted Tales series, out of the ones I have read thus far. The obstacles she faced were genuinely terrifying at times and I loved the dark atmosphere to the entire tale. Following Mulan into Diyu had a very Alice in Wonderland dreamlike quality to it. Although a bit tougher on Mulan than Mushu, I just adored his character. Mulan s Story Book Description : Princess Mulan shares the incredible tale of how she risked her life for her father and bravely fought to save the Chinese empire in this full-color storybook based on Disney Mulan. Like Mushu in the original version of Mulan, he added a great deal of humor to the story. If she fails, however, she will remained trapped in the Underworld as Yama’s prisoner forever.Īccompanying her into Diyu is Shang’s lion guardian, ShiShi. If she can navigate through the different levels of Diyu by sunset, facing numerous challenging obstacles along the way, Shang will be revived and she will be released. King Yama, ruler of the Underworld, has agreed to a deal with Mulan.
In this recent addition to the Twisted Tales series, we follow Mulan, still posing as the solider Ping, as she travels to the Underworld, Diyu, to try to save Captain Shang. What would Mulan do in order to save him? But what if Captain Shang ended up mortally wounded during the course of that fight?

Reflection mulan book movie#
There was a second Mulan movie and I’d love to see that story re-imagined by Elizabeth Lim. However, I will say that the amount we did get was totally true to the original story.
When Captain Shang is mortally wounded by Shan Yu in battle, Mulan must travel to the Underworld, Diyu, in order to save him from certain death. Reflection takes a spin on the movie by adding elements of Chinese mythology and adding focus on Mulan and Li Shang.
The movie is about a young girl named Fa Mulan takes her father’s place in China’s Imperial Army and how she impersonates a soldier under an alias: Ping. What if Mulan had to travel to the Underworld? Reflection is a spin on the classic 1998 Disney movie, Mulan.
